Hello!

I’m Shernelia Hawkins. I am a wife, a mother to two amazing kids, an accountant, and birth doula. In 2013, I received my Master’s in Accounting from North Carolina A&T State University. In 2017, I found my love for birth when following an acquaintance’s pregnancy journey on YouTube. In following this journey, I began to research different types of births and learned about all the options available to birthing individuals. During my research, I also learned about the black maternal and morbidity rates, which changed how I viewed pregnancy and birth. When preparing for my first pregnancy and birth, my fear of this statistic inspired me to become informed so that I could have the birth experience that I knew I deserved and more. For several years, I contemplated on becoming a doula and finally decided to take a leap of faith in 2021. With several years of accounting experience, I knew I loved accounting, but also loved to educate and inform birthing families of their many options during birth so that they can make informed decisions. I realized I was being called to do something greater!
